Jr. Picassos - In the Park!

Get inspired as we find inspiration outside! We'll start at the Duck Pond Pavilion in Fontana and explore nature to find inspiration before we paint, draw and sculpt.

You are invited to take part in the annual Big Foot Area Schools Summer Pops Band! This band is open to students in grades 7-12 and will be instructed by Big Foot Alumni, band directors, and local teachers.

Youth Dance Classes

Dance Dress Code: Please check the list for attire/footwear you'll need for each level
Instructor Lynette Vyhnanek began dancing at the age of three. She is trained in Ballet (minor pointe work), Tap, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Lyrical, and Contemporary. Lynette has choreographed many solos, duos, and groups that hold First Place National Titles.

Wiggle and move while learning to use motor skills, follow directions, make friends, and have fun! One adult per child is needed to participate. Siblings who are able to walk must be registered if present.

Musical Theatre

Dancing, Singing, and Acting...all in one class! This class will focus on Broadway style and technique of Jazz dance. Dancers will learn the basics of acting and gain confidence.

Dance Day Mini Camp
Ages 2 - 12
We'll start class by stretching and learning the basics of ballet and jazz. Once we wiggle to fun music, we will read a short dance-related story and watch a short video clip. A snack will be provided while we read. After the story, we will finish with a picture and craft. Dance shoes are recommended. Please dress comfortably and bring a water bottle. Parents are asked to remain in the building if their child is not yet potty trained.

"The Greatest Showman" Camp
Ages 3 - 7
Perfect for those who love the Movie “The Greatest Showman”. In this class we will sing, act, and dance to many of the songs in the movie. "Frozen" Camp
Ages 3 - 7
Perfect for those who love the Movie “Frozen”. In this class we will sing, act, and dance to many of the songs in the movie. We will do a craft, re-enact our favorite scenes, read a story, and much more! Wear comfortable clothing. A snack will be provided. Please bring a water bottle to class.

Family Programs


Build a Teddy - In the Park!
All Ages
Join us as we celebrate National Teddy Bear Picnic Day with a Stuff-N-Fluff event at Devils Lane Park! We invite you to enjoy a picnic with us as we bring our new teddy bear friends to life! Watch your child’s eyes light up as you help them make an adorable stuffed animal to take home. Each child will receive a kit that includes a 15” bear, a wishing star that goes inside, birth certificate, stuffing, and bag to bring them home in! Advance registration required.
Registration deadline is June 27.

Wood Fired Meal
Families
Bring your family out and join in making a one-pot savory meal using cast-iron cookware over a wood fire. We plan to make a delicious brat & potato dish. Of course no meal would be complete without cobbler for dessert. Vegetarian option is available on request. All supplies are included. Participants, please bring your own beverages.

Family Scavenger Hunt
Do you like solving puzzles and riddles? These scavenger hunts will take you throughout the Big Foot community as you search for clues. Take a photo of each object as you find them and race to be the first one to complete the hunt. Challenge will be distributed Friday evening. You have the weekend to explore!

Tree Climbing

Tree climbing is a great way to spend time in nature, get exercise, and have fun! After a how-to and safety tutorial, climbers use ropes and harnesses to climb into the towering trees. Once you’re there, you can sit or stand on the branches, swing or hang upside down!

Build your own Bog Garden
All Ages
Explore the world of carnivorous plants and learn to grow your very own bog garden. You’ll be planting your very own three plant bog garden containing a venus flytrap, sundew, and American pitcher plant. Leave this bog on your deck or patio for beautiful bug-catching color all summer long!

Carnivorous House-basket
All Ages
Learn to grow your very own hanging carnivorous house basket. Neal will teach you about the exciting world of carnivorous plants: from tropical pitcher plants to sundews and venus flytraps. You’ll plant your very own tropical pitcher plant (nepenthes) in a hanging basket that will thrive for years to come in a sunny window. Min/Max: 5/20

Rocketry Class
Grades 5 - 8
Build your rocket and blast it off! These are REAL rockets, not water rockets. In this class, participants will build a small rocket using tubes, engines, fins, cones and parachutes. Class will consist of two build days and a launch day.

Alden Hills Kids Farm Class
3 - 8 years
Get outside and experience the many sides of farming and discover where your food comes from at Alden Hills Organic Farms. Enjoy a hands on experience with cows, chickens, hogs, sheep, and bees. Gather your owns eggs, wrangle a chicken, and experience a variety of fun farm learning activities! Cost of class includes a half dozen eggs, a jar of honey, a potted plant/herb, and T-shirt.

AgriScience Camp
4 - 8 years
Explore the wonderful world of agriculture! The Agriscience department and the Big Foot FFA will offer a fun-filled educational adventure. Our adventure could take children horseback riding (miniature horses), on farm tours, learning about animal safety and maybe even an exploration of nontraditional agriculture.

Sports Programs

Archery
Ages 8+
Enjoy the thrill of getting a bullseye! This fun and challenging sport is open to all 8 years and up (including adults). After understanding safety and the basics, hone your skills to become a better archer..

July 12, 14, 16 from 9:00 - 10:00M

Tennis Lessons
Ages 7 - 18
Get professional lessons which will make you a better player. Lessons will focus on groundstrokes, serves, and volleys with drills practiced on all strokes, forehands, backhands, volleys, approach shots, serves and more.

Red Ball: is 75% slower than the standard tennis ball with a small court to promote success. Beginners learn the fundamentals while having a fun time.
Orange Ball
: is 50% slower than the yellow(regular) ball with a smaller size court. Proper strokes and technique will be learned in a fun game environment.
Green Ball: is 25% slower ball than the yellow with a regulation size court. Players continue to develop good techniques and movement, and begin to implement game skills and strategy.
Teen Tennis: For players who need more stroke refinement. Players will hit many balls and continue to learn the proper strokes and footwork necessary for productive match-play.

Want to use the fitness center the summer before your Freshman year? Join our Big Foot HS coaches in a hands on introduction on how to properly use the equipment to ensure your safety and well-being. This class is required for any incoming Freshmen looking to use the facilities. $10 includes your membership card.

Kids Staying Active - Strength & Conditioning
Grades 5 - 8
School may be on summer break, but your fitness doesn’t have to be! This one week training camp will give your child the tools they need to work on their conditioning, mobility, & agility throughout the summer. Each class will introduce new exercises and drills that the students can complete at home with minimal equipment. Be sure to bring a water bottle!

Start Smart Sports Development
Ages 3 - 5
Start Smart is a national program offered through the National Alliance for Youth Sports. This is an introductory sports program that prepares children 3-5 years old for organized sports. Parents work with their child, the instructor, and other kids in a fun, non-threatening environment to learn the basic skills of throwing, catching, kicking and batting. Both parents and children should dress in attire ready to play!
